Pomegrantes have long been believed and billed as the superfood to counteract the aging process. Yet ,until recently the scientific evidence of pomegranate’s anti-aging property remains unsubstantial.According to Sciencedaily ,a team of scientists from EPFL and the company Amazentis discovered that a molecule in pomegranates, transformed by microbes in the gut, enables muscle cells to protect themselves against one of the major causes of aging. The researchers identified the molecule, urolithin A, that was able to reboot the cell’s ability to recycle the components of the dysfunctional mitochondria on it’s own. In nematodes and rodents, the effect is nothing short of amazing. The study has been reported on the journal Nature Medicine and human clinical trials are started .
